BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Many IU Rugby alumni were in Bloomington to support the team as they rounded up the preseason with a 72-0 win over Bethel College.  After leading 25-0 at halftime, the Hoosiers kept the pressure on Bethel for 80 minutes.

Following the win over Bethel, USA Rugby bumped IU up from #7 to #6 in the D1A rankings.  Now the team is preparing for its trip to East Lansing to begin its defense of the BTU Championship.  The past two games against Michigan State have resulted in wins by over 50 points, but the Spartans are a side improving every year.

The B-side played against USI this weekend, who is coming off a third place finish in the 2016 NSCRO Champions Cup.  After leading at halftime, IU cycled in all of its subs and USI was able to come away with a 41-30 win.

Last season, the B-side lost a preseason matchup with IUPUI, and regrouped to go undefeated and win the 2015 BTU B-Side Championship.  The team will look to do the same in 2016.

September 17th at 1:00 PM, IU has its conference opener at MSU. IU will return to Bloomington to play Illinois on September 24.
